ECU Remap Frequently Asked Questions
What is ECU Remapping?
Our engineers are specialist mechanics, trained to work with modern vehicle engine computer systems, also known as Engine Control Unit's or 'ECU' to reconfigure the original factory settings which are set to universal default settings for sale all over the world regardless of varying laws, restrictions and climates.
Default factory settings ensure the same car can be legally driven in China, Brazil and Europe without modifying the engine, however because the software in the ECU can be manipulated, specialist trained ECU mechanics can easily update the settings to increase the engine capacity both safely to you and your vehicle and within UK legal parameters.

ECU engine remapping and TDI car chipping: does it work?
With the factory settings a vehicle has limited torque which makes the engine work harder, using more fuel and increased CO2 emissions. By introducing the vehicle to the parameters it was built for, the engine is prompted to perform better, providing the driver with a noticeably more responsive drive with increased power and torque, allowing the vehicle to operate more efficiently and for longer, reducing personal fuel expense and vehicle carbon emissions.
Engine performance tuning – potential to gain 30% more power & engine torque
This all depends on how you drive your vehicle on an average journey, for example some customers notice the considerable different in output their car offers once remapped and they may then increase their speed more frequently and thereby increase their fuel consumption. If however, the driver chooses to benefit from the increased power and torque when changing gears, then conservative fuel consumption can easily be achieved.
ECU chipping with superchips and effects to your car insurance
Like all modifications to your vehicle, it is important to speak with your insurance company prior to undertaking any work to discuss any affect to your insurance premiums. We have to advice that if you carry out any modifications without speaking to your insurance company they may invalidate your policy should you need to make a claim. Some insurance companies have been known to refuse to insure a remapped vehicle and others place a small percentage on the annual policy cost dependent on the increase in the vehicle's BHP.
